The VRCARE project took part in the EfVET Annual Conference 2025, held in Fátima, Portugal, where this year’s theme focused on “Wellbeing in a Digitalised World – Crafting the Future of VET 2035.” The event brought together VET providers, policymakers, education experts, and stakeholders from across Europe to discuss how digital transformation is reshaping skills development and well-being in training environments.
As part of the conference programme, VRCARE hosted a dedicated roundtable, presenting its work on integrating Virtual Reality (VR) into social and healthcare education. The session explored how immersive digital tools can offer new ways to train future caregivers in a safe, controlled, and emotionally rich environment.
Participants had the opportunity to learn how VRCARE’s training scenarios support learners in:
- Developing empathy, communication, and behavioural skills through realistic simulations.
- Practising responses to sensitive and complex situations involving elderly care and childcare.
- Strengthening their digital competences, preparing them for a sector increasingly shaped by technology.
- Improving their well-being by engaging with training tools designed to reduce stress and increase learner confidence.
The roundtable highlighted how immersive VR can complement traditional VET methods, offering new possibilities for skill development while maintaining a strong focus on the human dimension of care. Educators and stakeholders expressed interest in how VRCARE can enhance curricula, support personalised learning, and help prepare a more resilient and digitally capable workforce.
The project team shared insights from the ongoing development and testing of VRCARE scenarios, reinforcing the project’s commitment to creating meaningful, accessible, and high-quality training solutions that respond to real needs in the care sector.
VRCARE’s presence at the EfVET Conference underscored its role in shaping the future of VET, where digital innovation and learner well-being go hand in hand.
