Virtual Reality Applications in Vocational Education at the Evening Vocational High School of Igoumenitsa, Greece

On 6 February 2026, a training session on Virtual Reality (VR) applications in vocational education took place at the Evening Vocational High School of Igoumenitsa, Greece.

The activity was organised by the Directorate of Secondary Education of Aitoloakarnania within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA220-VET project VRCARE: Modernizing Healthcare Pedagogy with Virtual Reality for Interaction, Ethics, Stimulation and Sensory (Project Code: 2024-1-FI01-KA220-VET-000249151), co-funded by the European Union.

The session was hosted at the school unit of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Thesprotia, with the active support of the school Director, Mr. Spyridon Tzokas.

Twelve teachers and students participated in the training. The discussion focused on the practical use of VR in the Health, Welfare, and Wellbeing sector. Emphasis was placed on creating realistic simulations of professional environments.

Participants explored VR equipment, tested virtual scenarios, and examined ways to integrate this technology into everyday teaching. The exchange that followed addressed both the pedagogical value and the technical and organisational requirements for systematic VR use in schools.

Particular attention was given to aligning virtual simulations with real workplace demands. This approach strengthens experiential learning and supports skills development.

Through initiatives like this, VRCARE promotes the digital modernisation of vocational education by combining technology with sound pedagogical design.

VRCARE project has received support from the Erasmus+ program.
