Bringing VRCARE to Life: Pilot Activities in Denmark 🥽

The VRCARE project continues to explore how Virtual Reality can enhance vocational education and training in the health and care sector. Recently, pilot activities took place in Denmark, organised by SOSU Østjylland, bringing together students, teachers, and care professionals, as part of the project “VRCARE: Modernizing Healthcare Pedagogy with Virtual Reality for Interaction, Ethics, Stimulation and Sensory” (Project Code: 2024-1-FI01-KA220-VET-000249151), co-funded by the European Union.

Participants had the opportunity to experience VR scenarios designed to simulate real-life situations in childcare and elderly care. For many, this was their first contact with Virtual Reality as a learning tool, offering a new and engaging way to approach everyday professional challenges.

Through the scenarios, participants stepped into realistic environments where they could observe, reflect, and better understand complex situations. The experience created a safe space to explore communication, ethical decision-making, and interaction in care settings.

At the same time, the real-life scripts supported deeper reflection and discussion. Participants highlighted how closely the scenarios relate to real situations, helping them connect theory with practice and strengthen their professional understanding.

The pilot sessions also encouraged meaningful exchanges among participants. Students, teachers, and professionals shared their perspectives and reflected on how such tools can support learning and professional development in the future.

Activities like these highlight the strong potential of Virtual Reality to support experiential learning and bring education closer to real-life practice.

A big thank you to SOSU Østjylland and all participants for their valuable contribution and engagement. Their involvement plays a key role in shaping the future of VR-based learning in care education. 💙

VRCARE project has received support from the Erasmus+ program.
